Aside from becoming part of the floating garbage mass, an even bigger problem is that lightweight items thrown overboard tend to blow back on to lower decks. I could end up on someone's balcony. Heavy items are a problem also. The top deck is usually the narrowest part of the ship. Something heavy thrown overboard is likely to cold-cock an unsuspecting couple having a romantic tryst on the Promenade deck. Or I could end up on the Lido deck and be trampled by a conga line. It would definitely put a damper on the midnight deck party! I hope we have many many years to plan this, because there are still some glitches.
